Voncille Shipley selected as 2007 Pride of Healdton award recipient

The Healdton Alumni Association is proud to announce the selection of Voncille Emberling Shipley as the 2007 Pride of Healdton award recipient.
 
Presentation of the award will be made at the annual Alumni Banquet to be heId on Saturday, June 2, at 6.30 p.m.

Voncillle has recently become a highly acclaimed Oklahoma author. She has had articles published in national magazines in the United States and Canada. She has published three novels: This Raw,Red Land in 2OO3 Land of Sun and Flowers in 2004, and Left for Dead in 2006. She is presently working on a novel in a new mystery series.
 
She was bom to Jim and Emerine Emberling three miles south of Healdton behind a grocery store that her parents operated on Highway 76. She attended 12 years at Healdton, graduating in 1945 as valedictorian. Her honors include: a Certificate of Merit from the Department of Business Administration at East Central in Ada, and she was a finalist in the Fiction Category, 2004 Oklahoma Book Awards, Oklahoma Center for theBook.
