I have read Left for Dead and was hooked. I am almost finished with Legacy of Deception and can't wait to get hold of the next one!!!!!
Discovery of shocking evidence of her late husband's early life sends Trish LaClede to Oklahoma seeking more information. Documentation from records and old newspapers arouses suspicion of foul play and fraud that deprived Howard’s ancestors of oil-rich land.
An elderly woman gives Trish pictures of Howard’s mother and her sister with a baby that might be Howard’s sister. But Trish suspects that the woman was involved in the land fraud. Can she trust her to tell the truth? Why did Howard’s mother keep him in the dark about his relatives in the area?
As a stranger in unknown territory Trish doesn’t know whom to trust. Can she believe anything anyone tells her? Do the ones who seem most friendly have ulterior motives? Did her research rekindle long-smoldering hatred that results in murder?
Reviews
“Legacy of Deception continues the story of the lives of the characters you met in Left for Dead while introducing others for the first time. …readers will be endeared to some of the characters …while feeling complete disdain for others.” Jim Richardson, Pauls Valley Daily Democrat.
“Where in the world, you think, does Voncille Shipley get her ideas for a great mystery? Doesn’t matter. She hooked us on Left for Dead so we’re sitting ducks for a Legacy of Deception, her sequel.
“Legacy of Deception is truly a chick story that both mothers and grandmothers will easily relate to.” Larry Russell, The Wynnewood Gazette.
Widow’s search reveals ‘Legacy of Deception’
“In Oklahoman Voncille Shipley’s fourth novel…Trish LaClede explores the ancestry of her deceased husband, Howard, after finding a moldy pouch containing birth certificates and legal papers.
“The widow goes from her home in Missouri to the early eastern Oklahoma oil fields to research her husband’s family background. Court records and newspaper articles from the past convince her Howard had been adopted as a child. She sets out to find his family.
“Shipley weaves an intricate story of family relationships, resulting in a thriller you will enjoy when following her efforts to unravel the genealogy of loves, hatred and possibly murder.”—Russ Long, The Oklahoman
